Pond Irrigation for Blueberries with Flowatt 2HP Solar Centrifugal Water Pump in Florida

2HP Solar Centrifugal Water Pump

Musa wanted a reliable solar water pump to irrigate his blueberry bush farm in Florida, USA, using pond water and without relying on grid electricity or diesel fuel. His father had initially planned a pond water pump setup to water blueberries and other plants on their property, and Mr. Musa admitted they were new to solar water pump systems, not fully familiar with technical details.

They were considering something like a 2HP water pump (~1500W), with the goal of watering the plants for 2–3 hours every day during the growing season. While daily watering might be more than necessary once the plants are well-established, they wanted a system that could handle this schedule reliably.

Irrigation with Flowatt 2HP Solar Surface Centrifugal Pump

To meet his daily blueberry drip irrigation needs,  Musa chose a Flowatt 2HP Solar Surface Centrifugal Water Pump. This pump is designed specifically for 110V solar water pumps for ponds, providing a high flow rate suitable for distributing water evenly across multiple irrigation lines.

Key features of the solution include:

  • Pump Type: Solar surface centrifugal water pump
  • Power: 2HP (~1500W), capable of supporting 2–3 hours of daily irrigation
  • Inlet/Outlet: 2 inch diameter, optimized for pond water intake
  • Max Head: 17 meters(approx. 24 PSI), sufficient for small-scale farm irrigation
  • Materials: Cast iron pump body with brass pump impeller for durability

Solar Compatibility: Wide DC input (60–220 V) for connection to solar panels with mppt solar charge controller.

This solar powered centrifugal water pump system allowed  Musa to achieve reliable irrigation without relying on the grid or diesel, while keeping operation simple for first-time users.

As a high flow pump with a max flow of 50,000 L per hour (approximately 220 GPM), the system provides consistent water every day during the growing season. This ensures that all 60+ blueberry bushes receive optimal hydration within the planned 2-hour watering window. Paired with an appropriately sized solar array, the solar pump for irrigation system meets the farm’s irrigation needs efficiently and reliably.

Centrifugal Water Pump Installation & Usage Environment

The Flowatt 2HP Solar Surface Centrifugal Water Pump was installed directly in the blueberry bush farm to support a blueberry drip irrigation system. The pump sits near the pond for easy access, drawing water efficiently from the pond with a maximum suction lift of 7–8 meters to the irrigation lines. The 2HP centrifugal water pump is capable of a max pump head of 17 meters and operates daily using solar power.

Designed primarily for surface and shallow well applications, the pump works smoothly with pond water. For ponds that contain sand or small debris, a screen or filter is installed at the pump inlet to prevent sediment from entering, protecting the impeller and maintaining long-term performance. Water is delivered through the blueberry drip irrigation lines efficiently, making this DC centrifugal water pump ideal as both a water pump for ponds and an irrigation pump for small-scale farms.

Regular maintenance, including checking and cleaning the inlet filter and occasionally flushing the pump, ensures continued efficiency and protects the system from wear caused by sand or debris.

Customer Feedback

The Flowatt 2HP centrifugal water pump keeps our blueberry bushes well-watered every day. It’s reliable, simple to Install , and runs on solar power.

Solar Centrifugal Pump Application & Suitable Uses

The Flowatt 2HP Solar Surface Centrifugal Water Pump is designed for surface and shallow well water sources, making it ideal for small ponds, reservoirs, or open water bodies. It is suitable for:

  • Watering and Irrigation Systems, including blueberry drip irrigation, vegetable gardens, and orchard watering
  • Water transfer from ponds or shallow wells for farm or livestock use
  • solar power off the grid systems applications, reducing reliance on the grid or diesel generators
  • Continuous daily irrigation, thanks to its reliable centrifugal design and high flow capacity

Limitations:

  • Not suitable for deep wells exceeding the maximum suction lift of 7–8 meters
  • Should not be used in water with large debris or heavy sand without a filter, to protect the impeller
  • Designed for freshwater applications; avoid highly corrosive or abrasive fluids

With a max pump head of 17 meters and a flow rate up to 50,000 L/hr, this pump delivers consistent water efficiently, making it an ideal water pump for ponds and irrigation pump for small-scale farms.
