10 kW Residential Solar Installation in the Netherlands

Protagonists - Jan van den Berg and Sophie

Jan van den Berg, a passionate Dutch resident, is dedicated to environmental conservation and renewable energy. He's well-known for his involvement in sustainability initiatives and, together with his wife Sophie, aims to make their residence into a model of eco-friendly energy practices.

They opted for a tailor-made 10 kW solar energy system designed to cater to their specific energy requirements. This impressive solar installation is projected to fulfill approximately 90% of their annual electricity needs, translating to substantial savings of nearly €2,500 per year. Jan and Sophie can relish the economic and environmental advantages of this system for many decades, with an estimated system lifespan exceeding 30 years.

Solar System Components:

  • Solar Panels

Longi Hi-MO6 440W HPBC solar panels, with the quantity determined based on local sunlight conditions, totaling 12 panels.

  • Inverter

Flowatt 10kW three-phase inverter with 2 MPPT Charge Controller.

  • Battery

Flowatt Flw 100AH 51.2V 5.12KWH solar energy storage battery, utilizing lithium iron phosphate battery technology.

System Design Philosophy

The design of this solar energy system is aimed at providing renewable energy to Jan and Sophie, a fictional Dutch local couple residing in the Hoornmond region, while reducing their energy costs and dependence on conventional electricity sources. Here are the objectives of this system design:

Renewable Energy Supply

Using Longi Hi-MO6 440W HPBC solar panels, this system is intended to provide a significant amount of clean energy to Jan and Sophie. Given the abundant sunlight resources in the Hoornmond region, this system will generate enough electricity to meet their household power needs.

Energy Storage

The use of Flowatt Flw 100AH 51.2V 5.12KWH solar energy storage batteries allows Jan and Sophie to store excess electricity generated during sunny days for use during the night or on overcast days. This helps reduce their reliance on the grid and enhances the system's self-sufficiency.

Three-Phase Output

The choice of the Flowatt 10kW three-phase inverter primarily aims to meet the diverse power requirements of the household. This design takes into consideration that Jan and Sophie's residence may need to power various types of equipment, including household appliances and electric vehicle chargers. The three-phase output offers higher power quality and efficiency, ensuring that all their household power needs are met.

System Output

Based on the sunlight conditions in the Hoornmond region and the number of solar panels, it is estimated that this system will generate approximately 9,000 kWh of clean energy annually. This is equivalent to the energy required to drive a regular passenger car for over 7,500 miles.

Not only does this system contribute to reducing the household's carbon footprint, but it also significantly offsets their electricity bills, providing substantial savings over the coming decades. Jan and Sophie can now enjoy clean, sustainable electricity while contributing to environmental conservation.
